Catalan National team receives Shanghai players for a friendship match within their training camp in CAR Sant Cugat

International CP Football-7 a-side meet up

 

The Catalan CP football 7-a-side National team received Shangai players in Sant Cugat, Barcelona, last Sunday, December 11th for a friendship match. With fair-play and team work reigning during the whole match, the ending score was 5-2 for the Catalan local team.

 

With the ball constantly moving up and down the field, Catalunya scored two on the first half: Mario Sánchez and Guillem Moreno set the locals on advantage. Shangai was able to score in during the second half. Player Wang Weijun was the first to put a goal in the back of the net (minute 28, second half). Chen Jie gave a second one to his team (minute 49), after David González had scored 3-1 for the catalans. Nevertheless, Catalunya controlled the ball during the second half too and Rodolfo Babegael and Pedro Rodríguez (minute brought the score to 5-2 where it ended.

 

The match has been part of the sports’ programme developed by the CP Shangai football-7-a-side players during their stage in CAR, an international sports Centre with innovative facilities to achieve high performance goals.

Football for athletes with cerebral palsy, or a traumatic brain injury, is an excellent team sport that is enjoyable and can be played as a recreational activity, but still gives athletes the opportunity to play at club, national and international level.
