The future of the scottish swimming will compete in the Gran Premi Diputació de Barcelona

May 10, 2019

Toni Shaw, Scotland, 05 August 2003, is one of the best swimmers and with a promising future ahead. But not only future. The British is one of the realities of the moment, competing against other experimented swimmers and winning her first medals. Shaw arrives to the International Adapted Swimming Trophy as one of the stars to defeat, as two of her major rivals: Sarai Gascón and Núria Marquès.

It will be your first time in the Trophy.

I am very excited to be racing in the trophy! It will be great to race against such high competition.

What are you expecting of the competition?

For this competition I’m just looking to enjoy the races and practice my race plans as I have just competed in the world trials in Glasgow which was a key meet.

What do you think about this type of inclusion competition where athletes with and without disability compete all together? There are para swimming competitions like this in UK?

We have many inclusive meets in the Uk and I think they are great, they often bring in bigger crowds and the atmospheres usually great.

You will face off two of your big rivals in the swimming pool: Sarai Gascón and Núria Marquès.

I’m looking forward to racing both girls as we don’t get to very often and they’re such high standard of competition.

In which event you feel stronger?

The event which I feel strongest in is the 100 fly as I’ve been working on it a lot in training, this is one of my favourite events along with the 400 fc. I want to improve my 200 IM a lot more as my bc and brs are not very good.

What are your goals for the future?

My future goals are to qualify for Tokyo 2020 and hopefully race well there.
