Sarai Gascón, Núria Marquès, Òscar Salguero, Toni Ponce and Marian Polo will be in Barcelona, next April. With great achievements, they are some of the best Paralympic swimmers of the world.
Talk about Sarai Gascón is talk about successes. The S9 category swimmer from Terrassa, Barcelona, is one of the best swimmers of the moment. With 25, she’s in the fullness of her career with an extraordinary participation in the last World Cup, in Mexico. Gascón won three gold medals in the three events she took part.
Also, she won three silver medals in Rio Paralympic Games, summer 2016. This will be not the first participation of Sarai Gascón in the tournament, as she beat twice a world record during the past edition of the Gran Premi Diputació de Barcelona, in the 50 meters butterfly event.
One of the biggest challenges for Núria Marquès, one of the most talented swimmers with only 18, is to defeat Gascón in a big competition. They already faced in Rio and Mexico, where Marquès got a big prize with 7 medals (3 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze), but she couldn’t against Gascón. Either in Rio Summer Paralympics, where the swimmer of Castellví de Rosanes, Barcelona, won a gold medal in the 400 freestyle event.
They are friends outside the pool, but in… surely we will have a unique opportunity to see a great duel between Gascón and Marquès in Barcelona.
An inclusive competition
One of the strongest and most interesting points of the tournament is his capacity to create a speciall environment and chemistry between all the athletes due of his inclusive character. In the Club Natació Barecelona facilities, athletes with disability compete next to non-disability athletes, getting a rich educational experience.
